Please join us for a panel discussion with three French artisans who are part of the French craftsmanship collective based in New York, PAR EXCELLENCE.
For a long time relegated to the background, craftsmen are now returning to the forefront of the design scene. Yet even today, it seems that there are still two distinct worlds, which sometimes refuse to communicate. However, a historical approach to craftsmanship and interior design show us that they have common roots. So how can they collaborate? How should they collaborate?
These craftsmen will discuss how they work hand-in-hand with interior designers to create unique pieces and projects. Nowadays, craftsmanship is at the heart of many interior design projects. Designers are looking for new and rare craft talents. They are seeking know-how, quality, beautiful materials and inspiration. These craftsmen’s projects show how designers can see their ideas coming to life, but also the difficulties they can encounter when they collaborate.
The discussion will include two recent collaborations: First, the design of Par Excellence’s showroom on the Bowery, which is a collaboration with Thomas Pheasant. Then, the “Illuminations” collection, that was designed by Mathieu Lehanneur for AD Intérieurs 2018 in Paris and crafted by these craftsmen.
